Wellsburg is a village of about 650 people in Chemung County. It is southeast of Elmira; very near the Pennsylvania border. The village was named after a pioneer family and settled in 1788.

Wellsburg is located right on the one mile long Route 367 which begins at the Pennsylvania border and ends at Route 427 just north of Wellsburg.
