US 20 map highlighted in red

A map of Route 20 through the whole United States highlighted in red

US Route 20 is a main highway that runs by itself west/east from Auburn to Interstate 81 (with State Route 5 west of Auburn). In Auburn, it is known as East Genesee Street. Continuing east, Route 20 goes through Skaneateles, passing closely to the north tip of Skaneateles Lake. Then, it continues east and southeast as the Cherry Valley Turnpike until it hits Interstate 81 in LaFayette. After 81, Route 20 makes a horseshoe shape, then continues on to Cazenovia at the southern end of Cazenovia Lake. At this point, it is out of The Finger Lakes Region.

West of Auburn, Route 20 runs together with Route 5 as Route 5 and 20.

Western New York and westward[]

In Avon, Route 5 and Route 20 split again, with 20 continuing on all the way to California.
