New York State Route 79 is a 93 mile long east/west state highway located in the Southern Tier Region. The west end is at State Route 414 in Hector and the east end is at PA Route 92 in the Town of Windsor. From west to east Route 79 passes through Ithaca, Whitney Point and the village of Windsor.

NY 79 passes through three regions; it starts in the Finger Lakes region, runs through Central New York, and ends on the western fringes of the Catskills.
