The Finger Lakes Produce Auction is a weekly (several days a week, varying by season) fruit/vegetable and hay/straw acution located North of Dundee and south of Penn Yan at 3691 Route 14A, across from The Windmill. Vegetables such as tomatoes, cantaloupe, tree fuits, beans, squash, pumpkins, melons, grapes and flowers are auctioned off, usually in large quantities, primarily to vendors who will resell the produce. Hay and straw is auctioned off in the parking lot by the truckload to local farmers. According to manager Tim Benson, the produce is grown in the 13 counties of the Finger Lakes Region. Other auctions such as consignment auctions selling things such as farm equipment also take place there. The auction was formed in 2000 and has grown each year since. All auctions are open to the public to buy and/or sell.
