Map of the Finger Lakes Railway

Finger Lakes Railway is a railroad in the Finger Lakes Region in Central New York, headquartered in Geneva. It opened in July, 1995 and operates in Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, Ontario, Schuyler and Yates counties. They have 118 miles of track and 11 diesel locomotives. The line is mainly used for freight services but there has also been a heritage passenger train service on part of the line. The line that runs along Seneca Lake is particularly scenic and passes through wine country; however, heritage railways are generally not profitable and may require additional infrastructure than basic freight rail.
